In February 2007 the Hospital and Home Education PRU underwent its first OFSTED inspection.

 OFSTED found our provision to be ‘GOOD’. They said that the PRU was effective and valued by parents, pupils, health and other professionals. Pupils are helped to keep up with their studies and make up for lost time with good teaching, they make good academic progress. They enjoy their lessons and concentrate on the tasks set.

 There is good liaison with schools and PRU staff provide work that is suitably challenging. Many schools and parents sing the praises of the PRU in maintaining or developing pupils’ positive attitudes to education.

 The PRU’s success is underpinned by good leadership and management. Head Teacher David Staveley leads an effective team with  strong commitment to continuous improvement.

 OFSTED wants to see the restoration of accommodation damaged by the fire at Thorneywood Education Base in December 2006.
